PLMA - Mobile App and Portals

PLMA sample design comp

Over the past 12 years, WebFirst has developed, hosted and maintained a variety of innovative, open source based mobile, content management and association management applications. More specifically: exhibitor portals, training solutions, mobile trade shows apps, and searchable market share data. PLMA is a New York based, global organization of more than 3,200 manufacturers and marketers of private label products with members such as Dannon and Conagra.

Project Highlights Include:

Mobile App: Our mobile application delivers food and health product content to their members for PLMA's International Trade show in Amsterdam.  This Private Label Trade show is the largest trade show of its kind in the world, with more than 3,500 exhibit stands from 70 countries. Our mobile app supports multiple mobile platforms including: standard web, iPhone/iPad, Android phone / Tablets, Blackberry phone / Playbook. Users can search exhibitors by Organization Name, Product Category (health, food, etc.), or by Country. Multiple languages (English, French, Spanish, Italian, German) are supported via the Drupal 7 content management (open source) capabilities.

Informatics (Internet Yearbook): The Internet yearbook is a database of quarterly sales volume and dollar share information for all private label foods in the U.S. WebFirst developed a searchable system whereby PLMA members can search and sort this data by a number of criteria. New data is uploaded by the client via a web based administrator on a quarterly basis.  Technologies used: Drupal 7, LAMP

Training / Webcasts (Executive Sessions): WebFirst developed an online webinar / training series for PLMA. The PLMA executive team uses our training module (custom development using Javascript, Open source and HTML) to teach and present on a variety of topics from “The Chinese Market” to “New Innovations”. Technologies used: Drupal 7, LAMP, HTML / Javascript

Conference Portal (Matchmaker): Our matchmaker application allows retailers to make online appointments with various exhibitors. Retailers and Exhibitors have their own calendar and can search on exhibitors by a number of criteria – category, location and booth number. Exhibitors can also login and post new product announcements. Technologies used: Drupal 7, LAMP

Internationalization (IDEA Supermarket): The IDEA Supermarket is an extensive, searchable product and retailer database. Members can search by product type, country, retailer and see all associated product thumbnail details. The leverages Drupal's built in internationalization enabling versions in English, Spanish, German, Italian and French. Technologies used: Drupal 7, LAMP

Interactive (Store Brands USA): In collaboration with PLMA, WebFirst developed StoreBrandUSA.com to help promote private label brands by comparing and contrasting Store Brands vs. Name Brands in different remote locations. Users can calculate the total savings they can gain by purchasing a variety of private label items compared to name brands. The website also contains videos on recipes for cooking with store brands. Technologies used: Drupal 7, LAMP

Hosting and Cloud Based Services (CDN): In order to provide a low-cost, high-availability hosting solution, WebFirst delivers  Cloud based hosting (CDN) for PLMA's videos. With cloud services, PLMA only pays for what they use, and resources can be added very quickly via the use of a control panel.
