Modern Front End Technologies
WebFirst is once again engaged by DOI as a trusted, results-oriented partner to deliver on one of DOI’s most important initiatives – the Aviation Safety Communique! SAFECOM is a tool used to document and track safety concerns and follow-up corrective actions related to those safety concerns. SAFECOM reporting is a critical component of DOI’s Office of Aviation safety programs and WebFirst supports this safety reporting application, which provides critical information sharing for the early identification, correction and reporting of hazards that can save time, money, and lives!
Development and Operations
With this new contract, WebFirst is responsible for the Development and Operations (DevOps) of this important application and related coordination with DOI OCIO for data integrity. The site is a modern web-based application with React for the front end, Node/Express for the back end, and Postgres for the database. With React, WebFirst can take advantage of streamlined development of the JS front-end library for building the user interface updates. The system uses GSA’s login.gov platform to support authentication across agencies and is deployed on DOI’s GeoPlatform GIS cloud platform using AWS CloudWatch for critical monitoring and system-wide visibility. AWS Elastic Beanstalk is utilized to automatically run deployments, provide application website health monitoring and scaling. The system is also compliant with DOI OCIO federal regulations and utilizes open standards for future extensibility and enhancements by DOI OAS.
